IRGC accuses Saudis of financing anti-Iran terrorists

Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 21

By Fatih Karimov – Trend:

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has accused Saudi Arabia of financing terrorists against the Islamic Republic.

The public relations department of the IRGC Ground Force’s Quds base said in a statement Sept. 21 that the recently arrested terrorists in south-eastern Iran were operating under the financial support from Saudi Arabia.

“Certain neighboring countries were also providing intelligence support for the detained terrorists,” read the statement.

IRGC said on Sept. 20 that two “Pakistani terrorists,” linked with the Islamic Republic’s opposition groups, were arrested during an operation in Saravan District in Sistan and Baluchestan Province after entering the Iranian territory.

Iran’s security forces seized two bombs from the terrorists. Reportedly, the terrorists planned to explode the bombs in crowded places.

Arms and ammunition were also found and seized from the terrorists’ hide-out, the IRGC statement said.
