BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 21. We have already installed an observation and measuring station on the territory of Lachin, and the process of data collection is underway, the Director of the State Agency of Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy Javid Abdullayev told Trend at the COP29 event.
He pointed out that Lachin's wind potential is a goldmine waiting to be tapped.
“A wind power plant will be built there. The interest in renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan is great. If we look at the dynamics of signed memorandums of understanding, we will see this. According to the legislation of Azerbaijan, the auction is one of the main methods of selection. Of course, it is necessary to identify the territories and at the same time analyze the territories for renewables and the possibilities of the network,” he noted.
The director noted that next year's work is likely to be mainly on technological issues.
“It is also mainly transformations and storage systems. There is a concept regarding the vacated territories; the action plan has been approved and is being implemented, and monitoring is underway,” he said.
