ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 20. Kazakhstan's first embassy in Europe was opened exactly 30 years ago in Budapest, said President Tokayev during a meeting with the President of Hungary, Trend reports.

The meeting took place in the format of a working lunch between Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Hungary’s President Károly Schmitt, where the sides discussed a wide range of issues concerning Kazakh-Hungarian strategic partnership.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that over the three decades of diplomatic relations between the two brotherly nations, a trusting political dialogue has been established.

"Relying on our shared history and culture, Kazakhstan and Hungary have built strong bilateral relations. I would like to particularly highlight that Hungary was one of the first countries to recognize Kazakhstan's independence. My official visit to Budapest clearly demonstrates our mutual desire to further deepen multifaceted cooperation," said the President of Kazakhstan.

It was noted that Kazakhstan and Hungary share mutual interests in developing such sectors as energy, transportation, logistics, metallurgy, renewable energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, the food industry, and more.

Tamás Schmitt pointed out that despite the geographical distance, the peoples of the two countries share common historical roots and aspirations.

“Kazakhstan is located at the crossroads of the ancient Silk Road. Your country is a leader in economic development in Central Asia. Maintaining friendly relations between our peoples is an important priority for Kazakhstan,” noted the President of Hungary.

In the framework of the business meeting, President Tokayev arrived in Hungary yesterday evening. At Budapest Airport, the President of Kazakhstan was welcomed by Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
