BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. Last week, it was announced that Azerbaijan’s PASHA Bank had been appointed CEO and Chairman of the Board, Trend reports.
According to the decision of the General Meeting of Shareholders of PASHA Bank, Javid Guliyev was appointed to the position. He began work as business development advisor to the bank’s chairman in 2015. He worked as Deputy Chairman of the Board of PASHA Bank from February 23, 2016, and Deputy Chairman of the Board and Commercial Director from March 5, 2018.
It was also reported that the World Bank (WB) is developing a new partnership framework with Azerbaijan. The document will identify priorities for cooperation over the next five years.
In addition, it became known that the 47th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt) adopted a resolution on the membership of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC).
Also, it was reported that MasterCard, in cooperation with the Central Bank and banks of Azerbaijan, is seeking to expand access to finance for the small and medium-sized business sectors through technological solutions, innovation and various financial instruments.
The share of non-cash payments in the total turnover in Azerbaijan on MasterCard cards exceeded 35 percent. The priority direction of MasterCard's activity in Azerbaijan is to increase the volume of non-cash payments. Master Card maintains close cooperation with all interested financial structures of the country In order to support the further development of the non-cash payments market, including the Central Bank and partner banks.
Master Card will continue to share the latest technologies, services and experience with the Azerbaijani side.
Also last week, it was reported that holders of MasterCard credit cards issued in Azerbaijan will be able to make installment payments in Turkiye in the near future. The implementation of this initiative will contribute to the growth of cross-border transactions between Turkiye and Azerbaijan and provide additional opportunities for tourists.
