Bishkek and Dushanbe will accelerate the process of delimitation and demarcation of Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, Kabar news agency reported on May 14 referring to Kyrgyzstan's Vice Prime Minister Abdyrakhman Mamataliev.
"Following the talks in Dushanbe, the parties decided to accelerate this process. We decided to show an unconventional approach and accelerate the solving of controversial issues to ensure the normal life of citizens living near the border", Mamataliev said at the press conference on the results of the Kyrgyz-Tajik intergovernmental boundary negotiations in Dushanbe.
He also added that 57 percent of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are delimited. Flat country areas still remain to be delimited.
