ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 13. Kazakhstan supports the initiative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to raise funds for food assistance to the affected residents of Palestine, Trend reports.
The topic was addressed at an extraordinary joint summit of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the resolution of the Palestinian issue and the stabilization of the situation in Lebanon. Kazakhstan was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu.
During the event, representatives of member states discussed the current geopolitical situation and the challenges and threats facing the Islamic world, including the ongoing events in the Middle East.
The head of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the international community should not forget the important role of UN peacekeeping missions in the Golan Heights, Lebanon, and other parts of the world. The head of the Kazakh delegation also urged OIC member states to leverage the potential of the Islamic Organization for Food Security.
The first extraordinary summit of the LAS-OIC took place on November 11, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As a result of the meeting, a final resolution was adopted, and a Ministerial Contact Group on the Gaza Sector was established. Its primary task is to help end the hostilities in Gaza and ensure the protection of the Palestinian population.
