BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. The high-level panel discussion on "International Aviation and Climate Change" will be held on November 20 within the framework of the Day of Urbanization, Transport and Tourism in COP29, Trend reports via Azerbaijan's Ministry of Digital Development, Transport and Tourism.

Moreover, the event is set to bring together key government officials, influential industry leaders, and vital stakeholders for an engaging dialogue on cutting-edge advancements in the decarbonization of international aviation.

The panel discussion encompasses the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) ambitious objective of realizing Net Zero carbon emissions for global aviation by the year 2050.

To note, the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will run until November 22, opened today at the Baku Olympic Stadium. The event is the largest organized by Azerbaijan to date and is the first time the region has hosted the event in Azerbaijan.

The main expectation from COP29 is to agree on a fair and ambitious New Collective Quantitative Goal (NCQG) on climate finance.
