BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. The installed capacity of renewable sources in Brazil will increase by 30 gigawatts by 2030, the special advisor to Brazil's Minister of Mines and Energy, Mariana Espécie said during a ministerial dialog on “Scaling up Investment for Tripling Renewables and Doubling Energy Efficiency,” Trend reports.
“Brazil is an example that it is possible to aim for greater ambition in scaling up investments in renewable energy. From Brazil's perspective, in 2023, 89.2 percent of our electricity mix was renewable. So far, Brazil has successfully implemented national policies aimed at developing renewable energy at scale. This has been possible thanks to the medium- and long-term energy planning that underpins our strategy. Hydropower plays a key role in our country,” she said.
According to her, Brazil is weaving a tapestry of progress through the successful orchestration of auctions for the construction of transmission lines, each thread contributing to the grand expansion of the national interconnected grid.
“Brazil views the energy transition as an opportunity for investment and social development. In this sense, we are working closely with Brazil's National Development Bank to attract private investment into the country and support the implementation of onshore wind power projects as well as solar PV systems throughout the country. This is also helping to make these technologies the most affordable in Brazil. By 2030, Brazil's installed renewable capacity will increase by 30 gigawatts,” Espécie added.
