BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. Azerbaijan and Poland have an important economic cooperation, the President of Poland Andrzej Duda told reporters at COP29 in Baku, Trend reports.
“Within the framework of COP29 in Baku, I had a bilateral meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. I invited President Ilham Aliyev to Poland. I hope that this visit of the President of Azerbaijan will take place next spring,” he said.
The Polish President emphasized that the two countries have important cooperation on economic issues.
“I hope that these relations and this cooperation will be strengthened in various fields, especially in the field of renewable energy,” he said.
Duda also noted that he was very pleased to take part in the opening of the climate summit in Baku.
“We are all impressed with the organization of the conference, with which we congratulate the host country, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. We have experience in organizing a climate summit, and I can say with full responsibility that this summit is well organized,” he added.
To note, Baku is hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
The official opening ceremony was held on November 11 at the Baku Olympic Stadium.
The decision to hold COP29 in Azerbaijan was taken on December 11 last year at the plenary session of COP28 in Dubai.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change was signed in June 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro to prevent dangerous anthropogenic impacts on the climate system.
The first session was held in March 1995 in Berlin and the conference secretariat is located in Bonn.
