BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. The personnel shortage within the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan was addressed, and initial steps have been taken in regard to it, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Adil Karimli told reporters on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, Trend reports.

Karimli noted that the personnel reform initiative within the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan primarily aims to attract highly skilled professionals with specialized knowledge and expertise in their respective fields.

"The training of personnel is a top priority for the Ministry of Culture. We are dedicated to integrating individuals with higher education in specialized fields into the cultural sector. In alignment with this mission, the Ministry has introduced additional training programs aimed at enhancing management skills for those educated in cultural disciplines.

This year, the Ministry established a scholarship program for studies abroad, focusing on areas identified by President Ilham Aliyev. Through this initiative, numerous Azerbaijani students are receiving scholarships to further their education in the cultural field.

To effectively cultivate skilled managers and professionals in culture, we recognize the need for substantial efforts. We are actively working to attract foreign instructors to our institutions while also facilitating opportunities for our students to pursue supplemental education at esteemed international universities," he said.

The Minister of Culture also mentioned the availability of vacancies.

"As you may recall, last year we established a personnel bank. We are currently engaged in a thorough analysis of this resource, aiming to make informed appointments in relevant areas that align with individual preferences and requests," Karimli added.

The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will run until November 22, opened today at the Baku Olympic Stadium. The event is the largest organized by Azerbaijan to date and is the first time the region has hosted the event in Azerbaijan.

The main expectation from COP29 is to agree on a fair and ambitious New Collective Quantitative Goal (NCQG) on climate finance.

The COP29 chairmanship has launched 14 initiatives that include linkages between climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals, including green energy corridors, green energy storage, harmony for climate resilience, clean hydrogen, methane reduction in organic waste, action on green digital technologies, and other topics.
