BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. Georgia advocates for the integration of data transfer within the green corridor project, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili said at the 9th Ministerial Meeting, a meeting of the steering committee held in accordance with the agreement on strategic partnership on green energy development and transfer between the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary within COP29, Trend reports.
"Data transport is a key concern for Georgia as we actively invest in digital transformation. We unequivocally support the incorporation of data transfer into this initiative [green corridor and green hydrogen]. Exploring various connectivity possibilities that connect the South Caucasus with Central Asia and Europe is crucial, particularly due to the rising demand for data interchange. As stated in our September discussion, I am keen to provide the data accessible to the Ministry to aid this research. Collaborating on this material will certainly expedite the feasibility study, enabling a rapid transition into the project's implementation phase," the minister said.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will run until November 22, opened today at the Baku Olympic Stadium. The event is the largest organized by Azerbaijan to date and is the first time the region has hosted the event in Azerbaijan.
The main expectation from COP29 is to agree on a fair and ambitious New Collective Quantitative Goal (NCQG) on climate finance.
