BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. It is important to attract Central Asian countries to the green corridor, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili said during the 9th Ministerial Meeting, steering committee meeting following the Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the field of development and transfer of green energy between the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary, Trend reports.

“This is highly crucial and advantageous for Georgia. I believe we can increase the number of countries eligible to participate in this project. Considering worldwide trends and the advancement of interconnectors among nations and regions, we are addressing global connectivity. Exchange with other regions will enhance the competitiveness of the energy sector in each participating country," Davitashvili emphasized.

The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will run until November 22, opened today at the Baku Olympic Stadium. The event is the largest organized by Azerbaijan to date and is the first time the region has hosted the event in Azerbaijan.

The main expectation from COP29 is to agree on a fair and ambitious New Collective Quantitative Goal (NCQG) on climate finance.

The COP29 chairmanship has launched 14 initiatives that include linkages between climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals, including green energy corridors, green energy storage, harmony for climate resilience, clean hydrogen, methane reduction in organic waste, action on green digital technologies, and other topics.
