BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. The World Bank will announce a program to finance a number of topical initiatives in key sectors of some countries' economies in the coming period, the President of the World Bank Ajay Banga said at the COP29 summit on methane and greenhouse gases, Trend reports.
“The World Bank has developed 15 national programs to combat climate change. The Bank will soon announce a program to finance several relevant initiatives in key sectors of individual countries' economies. One of the main causes of climate change is carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. Central Asian countries are planning to increase production of alternative and renewable energy, which will be a valuable experience in sustainable development. In this region, including countries such as China, India, Vietnam, and Bangladesh, 66 countries provide 65 percent of the rice requirement, which also contributes to carbon dioxide emissions. The World Bank is implementing irrigation development and crop production projects in countries such as Turkey, Pakistan, and Egypt, which have achieved success through modest but effective efforts. In the future, the World Bank plans to launch a program to finance additional initiatives in key sectors of the economy from which recently joined countries can also benefit,” he said.
