BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. The UK Prime Minister will soon announce the RMDC target for 2035, Secretary of State for energy security and the UK's “net zero,” Ed Miliband said during the COP29 summit on methane and greenhouse gases, Trend reports.
“We are halfway through a crucial decade for the climate. This is the context for our discussions. The new UK government is committed to demonstrating global leadership at this critical time. Later today, the Prime Minister will announce the RMDC 2035 target, which will be an ambitious, economy-wide emissions reduction target needed to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius,” he said.
According to him, mitigating methane emissions is essential for attaining these objectives.
“You could say that methane is a marathon on the international climate agenda. The Global Methane Commitment was launched, and for the first time, a commitment to combat this challenge was included in the final decision. So what started as a commitment is now moving into action. We are seeing real steps to fulfill these commitments,” he added.
