BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. The cooperation agreement was signed between the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Italian company Italgas within COP29, Trend reports.
According to the information, the agreement was signed by SOCAR Vice President Elshad Nasirov and CEO of Italgas Paolo Gallo.
The companies will cooperate on sharing best practices and technologies to accelerate energy transition and digitalization, decarbonization of infrastructure through gas leak detection using Picarro technology, as well as digitization of processes using existing flexible methodology.
The document serves to strengthen the strategic partnership to promote innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in gas distribution between the parties.
To note, Baku is hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
The official opening ceremony was held on November 11 at the Baku Olympic Stadium.
The Summit of World Leaders on Climate Action will be held on November 12–13.
The decision to hold COP29 in Azerbaijan was made on December 11 last year at the plenary session of COP28 in Dubai.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change was signed in June 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro to prevent dangerous anthropogenic impacts on the climate system.
The first session was held in March 1995 in Berlin and the conference secretariat is located in Bonn.
