BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 24. Plans are underway to launch 100 industrial facilities each year in Kyrgyzstan, the country's Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov said during a celebratory event marking the 100th anniversary of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Trend reports.
"We are transitioning to large-scale industrialization of the economy - starting now, we'll launch 100 industrial projects annually," Japarov explained.
According to him, achieving success requires an innovative approach, technological literacy, and engineering thinking.
Japarov noted that in 2023, the turnover of Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade in services reached nearly $5.4 billion, nearly doubling compared to 2022.
"We see how Kyrgyzstan is transforming from a small link on the world map into an important transport hub connecting countries and continents. We have managed to structure our work so that the country's GDP exceeded 1.2 trillion soms (approximately $13.7 billion) last year, and this year it is expected to reach 1.5 trillion soms (around $17.5 billion). In three years, we have tripled the national budget," he added.
The prime minister also mentioned that, according to the Central Intelligence Agency's World Factbook, Kyrgyzstan ranked in the top 30 countries for real GDP growth among 220 countries by the end of 2023. Additionally, according to the Global Peace Index for 2024, Kyrgyzstan made significant progress, moving up to 77th place out of 163 countries—improving its position by 24 places from 101st in 2023.
"This reflects the strengthening of national security and the establishment of stability in the country. According to the World Bank's assessment of real GDP growth for 2024, Kyrgyzstan is among the leading 'fast-growing economies' in Europe and Central Asia," he added.
