KAZAN, Russia, October 24. It is necessary to look for a practical plan for reforming the United Nations system, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said at the first plenary session of the 16th BRICS Plus summit in Kazan, Trend reports.
“It is necessary to look for a practical plan, a bold plan, in order to reform the UN system. We believe that a new world is already being created, and BRICS is the epicenter of the birth of this new world,” he said.
According to the Venezuelan president, it is a world that is based on deeply humane principles.
“Yesterday in our bilateral meeting with President Vladimir Putin, I said that Venezuela belongs to the BRICS family. This is the first time that the Venezuelan President is participating in a BRICS meeting, and of course, we share the BRICS principles,” he added.
BRICS, an intergovernmental organization, came into existence in 2006. Russia assumed the BRICS chairmanship on January 1, 2024. At present, alongside Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa, the organization has also welcomed Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia into the fold.
