KAZAN, Russia, October 24. The involvement of Belarus is crucial for enhancing BRICS prospects, the country's President Alexander Lukashenko said at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS Plus summit in Kazan today, Trend reports.
He delineated several critical domains in which Belarus is prepared to assume a substantial role.
Lukashenko put his cards on the table regarding security issues, saying that mutual respect, indivisible security, and guarantees for states to thrive without stepping on each other's toes should be the bedrock of a new world order.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of sustainable development, particularly for countries in the global majority. Belarus, one of the world's largest suppliers of mineral fertilizers and agricultural machinery, contributes significantly to food security.
The president highlighted the nation's preparedness to collaborate with peers in agricultural science, specifically in the adaptation of crops to climate change and the restoration of agricultural land.
Lukashenko also pointed out the humanitarian sector, highlighting the international recognition of Belarusian education.
"Students from over 110 countries strive to obtain diplomas in Belarus in highly demanded specialties, which reflects the strength of Belarusian scientific schools." Among the country's priorities are the development of energy-efficient technologies, nanomaterials, and new energy sources, as well as medicine and information technology," he explained.
Additionally, Lukashenko emphasized Belarus's experience in the aerospace field and the country’s readiness to contribute to the initiative of creating satellite systems for BRICS and future space consortiums.
In conclusion, the president conveyed a willingness to collaborate and enhance relations with other BRICS nations, articulating the goal to engage proactively in tackling shared difficulties and concerns.
