DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 24. Tatarstan's contribution to the total volume of trade turnover between Tajikistan and Russia is more than $50 million, the president of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon said at a meeting with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, within the framework of the BRICS+ summit, Trend reports.

The president stressed that the turnover indicator can be increased, taking into account the available opportunities.

He also noted that within the framework of strategic partnership and alliance with Russia, issues of cooperation with its regions, including Tatarstan, are at the center of our constant attention.

The parties discussed the situation and prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and Tatarstan, paying great attention to the development and expansion of ties in the fields of trade, investment, metallurgy, mining, oil and gas, chemical, light and food industries, pharmaceuticals, and construction.

Moreover, it was recognized that it was necessary to expand cooperation in the energy, agricultural, tourism, cultural, and humanitarian sectors, including education. To note, BRICS is an intergovernmental organization established in 2006. On January 1, 2024, the BRICS presidency passed to Russia. Currently, the organization's members, in addition to Russia, are Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
