KAZAN, Russia, October 24. Brazil's main priorities within the G20 framework are social integration, combating climate change, reforming global governance, and establishing international financial institutions, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Luiz Ieker Vieira said at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS Plus summit in Kazan today, Trend reports.

"We invite everyone to join the Global Alliance against poverty and hunger. Our goal is to mobilize resources to tackle these challenges. We also urge all countries to raise their ambitions in their national contributions to combat global warming," he also said.

"On the eve of COP-30 in Belem, we must act bolder and more decisively, without abandoning the principle of common but differentiated responsibility. We must combine our efforts to avoid falling behind in the energy transition and digital revolution.

We cannot remain mere suppliers of natural resources, following an outdated export model that has existed for centuries. Nor can we be passive observers in the development of artificial intelligence; we must actively participate in its regulation and receive fair compensation for the use of our data," the minister explained.

He noted that this year, the G20 presidency endorsed an important call for reforming global governance, which received support from many countries present at the BRICS summit.

"Brazil is considering proposing to the UN General Assembly a conference to review the UN Charter in accordance with Article 109. We intend to explore these issues during our BRICS presidency next year, with a primary focus on strengthening global cooperation in the South for more inclusive and sustainable development," Vieira added.
