KAZAN, Russia, October 24. Outreach/BRICS+ serves as an important platform for developing connections between the Global South and emerging markets, President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa said at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS Plus summit in Kazan today, Trend reports.

"These platforms must be used to ensure constructive interaction. We need to utilize the BRICS platform to contribute to the socio-economic and cultural aspects of our peoples' development. We welcome Russian projects aimed at strengthening BRICS countries through various measures, particularly in transportation and connectivity networks. This will greatly help us find ways to integrate and ensure interconnectedness between us in new and alternative ways," he mentioned.

Ramaphosa mentioned that the African Free Trade Area will be a game changer, opening doors to capitalize on existing trade and investment opportunities for global companies.

"Moreover, opportunities will be established that will result in a more extensively integrated continent. The Single African Air Transport Market is a significant initiative in accordance with the African Union's objectives for 2063. We must seize pertinent chances to improve connection across the Greater Global South. The advancement of connections and commerce in the region can only thrive in an environment of peace and security," he added.
