KAZAN, Russia, October 24. The cooperation within BRICS is focused on addressing global challenges, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS Plus summit in Kazan, Trend reports.

“We have gathered with our friends from BRICS countries, and we see that the world is facing unprecedented challenges that affect every nation, regardless of its economic level or geographical position. I am referring to global economic changes, climate challenges, and energy-related issues. The BRICS framework directs its cooperation towards solving these problems. We must adhere to the principles of the UN Charter and the resolutions of the Security Council as the foundation of our interaction,” he noted.

He made it clear that joining forces with BRICS partners in trade, investment, sustainable development, transportation, and food security is the name of the game.

“Our country is firmly convinced of the necessity to expand cooperation with partners to develop a common economic strategy,” he added.

The minister drove home the point that in today’s world, multilateralism isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s the bread and butter of global cooperation.

"Individual countries cannot resolve the challenges we face, whether they are economic, political, or social. Therefore, multilateralism is essential for stability and development. We understand that developing countries play a crucial role in this process and believe that Global South nations should be partners in implementing economic policies.

By participating in BRICS and collaborating with our partners, our country aims to further strengthen cooperation and openness. We consider it important to create even closer partnerships using various platforms and mechanisms. We support BRICS's plans to expand cooperation with friendly countries and are ready to deepen this engagement in the future,” the minister concluded.
