BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. BRICS has become an example of successful cooperation between countries at the international level, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said at the first plenary session held in the BRICS+ format in Kazan on October 24, Trend reports.
According to him, the reason for this is that BRICS is focused on its long-term goals.
The Iranian president added that most international institutions, such as the UN Security Council and the International Monetary Fund, have lost their effectiveness due to the influence of Western countries.
Pezeshkian stated that establishing friendly relations is a desire of many countries to get rid of unipolarity.
BRICS, an intergovernmental organization, came into existence in 2006. Russia assumed the BRICS chairmanship on January 1, 2024. Currently, in addition to Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa, the members of the organization are Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
