TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 23. During the BRICS summit events, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank (NDB), to discuss enhancing mutually beneficial collaboration with the esteemed multilateral financial institution, Trend reports.

The two sides explored several promising areas for partnership, including educational programs, technological development initiatives, social sector support, and the modernization of industry, infrastructure, and logistics.

They also emphasized the importance of digitalization, energy, and utilities.

A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to establish a joint expert group aimed at preparing specific cooperation projects, paving the way for strategic initiatives that align with Uzbekistan's development goals.

Meanwhile, the 16th BRICS summit kicked off in Kazan on October 22. It consists of two parts. The first one is a meeting of the organization's member countries dedicated to the theme “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security”, which is the motto of the Russian BRICS chairmanship in 2024. The second part will be a "BRICS+/Outreach" meeting, centered on the theme "BRICS and the Global South – Together Building a Better World".
