U.S. drones were shot down by anti-aircraft guns of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps in the Gulf outside Iran's air space, Deputy Chief of the Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, General Rashid Gulamali was quoted by the Iranian Fars news agency.
At the moment, the wreckage was found in Iran, Rashid said.
According to the Fars news agency, fragments of drones will be showcased to media representatives in the coming days.
In early January, the commander of aerospace forces of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Brigadier General Amir Ali Hadzhirzadeh said that two drones were shot down over the Persian Gulf. However, he called neither specific sites where they were shot down, nor the time of such incidents.
Meanwhile, the U.S Ministry of Defence denies Iran's reports about destroying two U.S. drones in the Persian Gulf, saying that Iran's military have never shot down the drones belonging to the United States in the Persian Gulf.
The United States often use drones to attack targets in Afghanistan and Pakistan. In 2005 Iranian Intelligence Minister Ali Yunesi spoke about the fact that Washington uses drones to monitor the nuclear facilities in Iran.
