Majority of loans issued in Azerbaijan fell on households in 2021 - CBA

The largest share of loans issued in Azerbaijan in 2021 fell on households, accounting for 50.27 percent of the total lending, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, last year, the volume of loans issued to households amounted to 8.6 billion manat ($5 billion), increasing by 1.89 billion manat ($1.11 billion), or 28.28 percent on annual basis.

Meanwhile, lending to trade and services increased over the year by 385.7 million manat ($226.8 million), or 14.79 percent - up to 2.99 billion manat ($1.76 billion) against 2.6 billion manat ($1.5 billion) in 2020. The share of trade and services in the total volume of lending amounted to 17.48 percent.

In general, the volume of loans issued in the real sector of the Azerbaijani economy in 2021 grew by 2.58 billion manat ($1.52 billion), or 17.8 percent on annual basis - from 14.53 billion manat ($8.55 billion) to 17.1 billion manat ($10.06 billion).
