BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. The cost of goods transported by rail in Azerbaijan amounted to almost $1.06 billion from January through April 2022, which is 21.2 percent or $186.4 million more than the same period in 2021, Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee told Trend.
According to committee, cargo transportation by rail amounted to about 1.9 million tons in the reporting period, which is almost 10.1 percent, or 196,084 tons less than in the same period in 2021.
Export cargo transportation by rail exceeded 800,624 tons in quantitative terms, and $344.3 million in value terms from January through April 2022 (an increase of 34.8 percent compared to the same period in 2021).
Import via railway transport in quantitative terms exceeded 1.1 million tons, and in value terms - $721.6 million (an increase of 15.6 percent).
The cost of cargo transportation in Azerbaijan by all modes of transport amounted to almost $15.8 billion from January through April 2022, including exports - about $11.8 billion, imports - $4.04 billion.
