Georgia, Tbilisi, Sept. 23 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /

The European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus has said that the EU will continue its policy of non-recognition of the conflict regions in the area.

"It is very important that we stand firmly on this position," Peter Semneby told journalists in the lobby of the UN General Assembly in New York. "There are serious obstacles to normalization of Georgian-Russian relations and it is important not to forget about this issue."

Semneby said both countries are interested in that the relevance of the issue of normalization of the Moscow- Tbilisi relations has been highlighted.

"But, that does not mean we should forget about those issues still in dispute between the parties," he said.
