BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 20. Airports are reaffirming their commitment to climate action, ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci said at a panel discussion on "Airport Climate Action Showcase Heydar Aliyev International Airport Spearheading Carbon Reduction in the Subregion" at COP29 in Azerbaijan's Baku, Trend reports.
"Airports are demonstrating their commitment to addressing climate change, which was once again highlighted today at COP29. In light of the complex political challenges surrounding climate action, we must collectively reaffirm our commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Aviation brings immense benefits to our society and economy. Airports and their partners must continue to work towards reducing carbon footprints while preserving aviation's unique role in promoting prosperity and enhancing resilience to climate change. We look forward to governments worldwide providing supportive frameworks to make the long-term ambitious goal of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) achievable," Erbacci said.
