Putting gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China into operation in the near future will be a special milestone in the modern history of friendly and mutually beneficial relations between the two countries, said Chinese President Hu Jintao.
Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper wrote today that he said this during a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov in the U.S., where the Heads of State gathered at the UN General Assembly.
The capacity of the transnational pipeline will be from 30 to 40 billion cubic meters of gas per year, and the transit countries are Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The Turkmen leader emphasized that the work on the gas pipeline coincides with the schedule and will be completed in time. He invited Hu Jintao to attend the ceremony of its opening ceremony, which according to preliminary information, will be held in December this year.
The Chinese leader also said that his country would follow the formerly reached agreements and is ready to purchase Turkmen gas in the planned volumes. President of China said that the Turkmen-Chinese energy cooperation is developing fruitfully and the main result of this partnership today is the gas pipeline, which is a symbol of long-term, mutually beneficial partnership.
Mentioning the positive work of the inter-governmental commission, the sides called for increased cooperation on a number of other prospective spheres, in particular such as transport and telecommunications, textile and chemical industry.
