Government of Japan Allocates Nearly Half Million Dollars for Social Development in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The Government of Japan allocated nearly half million dollars for the realization of six social projects in Azerbaijan, a source stated at the Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan. The six grant projects include the Projects for Construction of Schools in the villages of the regions of Hajugabul, Shamakha, Barda, Ismailli, Bilasuvar and Project for Reconstruction of Water Pipes Ganjeli community in Sheki city. The amount of the Japanese Grant Assistance for the six projects this time is $459,938. The projects are realized 'Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme', which started from the year of 2000. Including these sic projects so far 96 projects up to $6,459,049 have been implemented under this Programme in Azerbaijan. The total amount of Japan's Official Development Assistance provided for Azerbaijan is $722,638mln, covering a wide range of areas such as improvement of the economic infrastructure, agricultural and social sectors, cultural field as well as human capacity development.
