The first group of Azerbaijani pilgrims in 35 buses left for Saudi Arabia on 3 December.

This year nearly 6,000 Azerbaijani pilgrims will visit Haji. The 4,500 quota for Azerbaijan has already been taken up and the remaining places were filled by private tourism companies.

Pilgrims traveling by air will travel from Baku to Jeddah and then onto Mecca by bus. However, while returning, the pilgrims will fly to Baku not from Jeddah, but as previous from Medina. "It simplifies the travel of the Azerbaijani pilgrims who formerly expected their flights for several days due to the congestion in Jeddah airport," the same source stated.
