The Azerbaijani Ombudsman Institute was adopted as an institutional member of the International Ombudsmen Institute (IOI), the ombudsman office told Trend on Wednesday.
The IOI gave a positive answer to the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Institute's request given the many-sided activities in the area of protecting and promoting human rights and innovation.
Membership in this international structure stipulates attendance of the conferences and meetings of the authoritative institutions of the National Human Rights and provides an opportunity to share advances in various aspects of human rights, as well as share their experiences of acting as an expert in international trainings and seminars.
The Azerbaijani Human Rights Commissioner's Office in 2003 was elected a member of the European Institute of Ombudsmen and the Asian Association of Ombudsmen.
