ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 31. A leading pharmaceutical company in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, Polpharma, plans to launch the production of new medications in the near future in Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
This was reported by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Polpharma, Jerzy Starek, during a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on the sidelines of the Foreign Investors Council meeting.
During the conversation, they discussed expanding the presence of the leading pharmaceutical company in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Tokayev was informed about the completion of the quality control laboratory and research testing center of the company. He also emphasized the importance of developing Kazakhstan's research potential in the pharmaceutical industry and implementing training programs. Tokayev thanked the Polish investor for the timely assistance in providing necessary medical supplies to the regions of our country affected by spring floods.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Jerzy Starek bestowed two books upon Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The initial book pertains to the production of a documentary funded by Polpharma. This project, created by Kazakh documentarians, focuses on religious sites in Kazakhstan, including Beket-Ata, the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, Arystan Bab, the Tamgaly petroglyphs, and the Botai village. The second book is a biographical anthology concerning the renowned Kazakh author and frontline soldier Kemel Tokayev, who took part in the liberation of Poland from fascist oppressors. This book was issued with the assistance of the Polish-Kazakh Historical Commission.
Polpharma SA is a Polish pharmaceutical company based in Starogard Gdański. It produces drugs used in cardiology, gastroenterology, and neurology, as well as popular over-the-counter medications. The company was privatized on July 20, 2000, with the involvement of Polish capital. Since then, the main shareholder has been the Spectra holding, owned by Jerzy Starek. On September 20, 2011, Polpharma became the majority shareholder of the company that owns Chimfarm in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.
