Georgian Cabinet of Ministers designs new program to fight unemployment

Reducing poverty will be a key priority of the Georgian government, candidate to the post of prime minister Nika Giluari said at an Economic Policy and Budget and Financial Committee meeting.

He said the overwhelming majority of the Georgian population lives in poverty and a major priority is to maintain jobs and reduce poverty. This will gradually contribute to infrastructure projects, he said.

"Despite difficulties, our main goal is to reduce the unemployment rate by creating new jobs and building a Georgian nation without poverty," he said.

According to an UN report, Georgia has the highest unemployment rate in the CIS at 14 percent.
