According to the State Statistics Committee, in January the cargo transportation by all transport means made up 15.4 million tons of cargo or 4 percent more than the same period of 2010.
The private sector share in cargo transportation was 70.6 percent. In 2010, 46.9 percent of the transported total cargo volume accounted for road transport, 34.9 percent - pipelines, 11.2 percent - railway and 7 percent - by sea.
The passenger transportation during the reported period totaled 105.9 million people, which is 6.1 percent more than the same period of 2010. Passenger transportation by automobile was 85.7 percent, metro - 13.8 percent.
Railway transport accounted for 1.7 million tons of various cargo, which is 3 percent more than the same period of 2010.
The cargo shipping via sea totaled 1.1 million tons, which is 3.3 percent more than the same period of 2010. All cargo deliveries were implemented under the international operations. The volume of cargo processed in Azerbaijani ports was 1.1 million tons in January, which is 44 percent more than 2010.
Automobile transport accounted for 7.2 million tons of cargo, which is 5.9 percent more than January 2010. Passenger transportation comprised 90.8 million people (increased by 7.6 percent) with 96.8 percent passengers using buses and 3.2 percent people - vehicles.
Some 14.6 million passengers used metro. The figure reduced by 1.9 percent.
The passenger transportation via airways totaled 86,000 people. Some 2.1 percent of transportation by this type of transport fell to private sector.
Some 51.7 million tons of cargo was transported through Azerbaijan via the Eurasian transport corridor in 2010 or 8.9 percent more than the same period of 2009. Some 223.2 million passengers were transported within the corridor in 2010 or 7.9 percent more than 2009.
