Baku, Azerbaijan, July 19

By Azad Hasanli – Trend:

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and Russia’s Gazprom PJSC are discussing the common areas of cooperation, a part of which can become the supplies of natural gas, Vitaliy Baylarbayov, SOCAR deputy vice-president for investment and marketing, told reporters in Baku July 19.

“I don’t rule out that this could be both gas supplies to Azerbaijan and from Azerbaijan. We have already conducted such negotiations before and always conduct, because as countries that make serious contribution to the development of gas relations in the region, we periodically consult with each other and support a serious and prospective dialogue,” he noted.

Baylarbayov didn’t speak about the gas volumes and possible terms, saying that these issues haven’t been discussed yet.

The parties continue to work on the possible development of concepts of cooperation in the field of oil and gas supplies, added the deputy vice-president.

On July 2, St. Petersburg hosted a meeting of Alexey Miller, chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee and deputy chairman of the Board of Directors, and SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev. Gazprom said earlier that the meeting’s participants discussed cooperation issues, in particular, the supply of natural gas to Azerbaijan.
