China’s CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC) will launch production of locomotives in Turkey, a source in the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communications told Trend Jan. 23.
The source said that locomotives will be manufactured at the facilities of the Turkish machine-building plant “Acarlar Vagon”. A relevant agreement was signed between CRRC and the management of the “Acarlar Vagon” plant.
“Locomotives produced in Turkey will be operated not only in the country, but will also be exported to neighboring countries,” the source said.
At the first stage, 111 locomotives are planned to be manufactured here.
Moreover, the production of spare parts for railway rolling stock has been launched in the Turkish provinces of Sakarya, Sivas and Eskisehir.
