By Azad Hasanli - Trend:

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Taxes has ceased business audits, a source in the government told Trend.

The inspection of entrepreneurs was ceased due to staff changes within the Ministry following the appointment of Mikail Jabbarov as the Taxes Minister in December 2017.

There is a moratorium on business audits in Azerbaijan, but it does not apply to tax inspections within companies with an annual turnover of more than 120,000 manats. At the same time, the moratorium does not refer to timing checks and a number of other types of tax inspections which are conducted in the companies with annual turnover of less than 120,000 manats.

"Personnel reshuffles began in the ministry after the appointment of the new minister. Respectively, tax audit officers had to leave their positions," said the source.

In their absence, supervision over the field of tax audits was transferred to one of the deputy ministers. Ilkin Valiyev has undertaken this office. However, inspections are not carried out for now.

At the same time the source allows that Jabbarov is probable to inject definite changes into the tax audit process in general.
