In total, Iran imported 3.72 million tons of goods worth $4.69 billion from the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through January 20, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.
The spokesman emphasized that Iran's imports from ECO member states for the reporting period increased by 26 percent in value, while decreased by 15 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Latifi also added that Iran mainly imported essential goods, industrial equipment, raw materials, medical supplies and medicines from ECO member states in 10 months.
"Over 10 months, Iran imported 3.22 million tons of goods worth $4.23 billion from Turkey, 215,000 tons worth about $203 million from Pakistan and 55,300 tons worth about $102 million from Uzbekistan," he said.
In addition, Iran imported goods worth $49.7 million from Kazakhstan, worth about $34.2 million from Azerbaijan, worth $26.6 million from Turkmenistan, worth $26.5 million from Tajikistan, worth $15.6 million from Afghanistan and worth $2.75 million from Kyrgyzstan, the official noted.
Iran's foreign trade turnover with ECO member states for the first 10 months of the current Iranian year amounted to 24.7 million tons worth $13.1 billion. Trade turnover increased by 41 percent in value and 25 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
The following ten countries are at present the member states of ECO: Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Turkey, Turkmenistan, Republic of Uzbekistan.
