Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said Tuesday that Turkey wanted to develop relations with Romania regarding energy, Anadolu News Agency reported.

Yildiz's first meeting in Bucharest took place with Romanian Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Environment Ion Ariton.

In a meeting that lasted around 1.5 hours, Yildiz and Ariton discussed in detail possibilities for cooperation in the energy sector and evaluated an undersea high voltage cable project that could be realized between Turkey and Romania in the Black Sea.

Yildiz and Ariton held a joint press conference following their tete-a-tete meeting.

Economic relations between Turkey and Romania are constantly growing. Romania is an important trade partner for Turkey and the region. We are pleased to see Romania's support to Turkey's EU bid, Yildiz said.

I thank again for Romania's support to Turkey in the EU. We are big trade partners with Romania. The Nabucco Project carries importance both for Turkey and Romania. We want to develop the markets in the region. We are seeking for solid cooperation in diverse fields, Yildiz said.

Ion Ariton, in his part, said that his meeting with Yildiz on Tuesday was very fruitful.

We share similar views with Turkey in turning the Nabucco Project into a solid one. We will establish a working group so that Turkey and Romania open up to third markets, Ariton said.

Minister Yildiz will meet Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi and Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc on Tuesday afternoon.

Yildiz and his delegation will return back to Turkey on Tuesday evening.
