Azerbaijan has enough gas reserves for export to Europe, Deputy Industry and Energy Minister Natig Abbasov said on Tuesday.
He said the country has reserves to supply gas to Europe, but it will be possible to speak about full readiness to supply following the resolution of technical issues, identifying the buyer of the gas and achieving long-term contracts.
"However, Azerbaijan has natural gas reserves [...] and the country will supply gas, using an option that will be most advantageous," he said.
Abbasov said the work is underway to find the most advantageous option for exporting gas to the world markets.
Based on the projections, Azerbaijan's gas production will be doubled compared to the figure of the last year (27 billion cubic meters), which means an increase of the country's export opportunities, Abbasov added.
Azerbaijan today considers the possibility of gas supplies to Europe in the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor Project, which includes pipeline projects such as Nabucco, TAP, ITGI and White Stream.
