Economic growth in Azerbaijan, observed in recent years, requires additional investments in telecommunications infrastructure, Emre Onder, Director General of İTS Company - Alcatel- Lucent regional distributor, the Turkish Hürriyet newspaper reported on Saturday.
Onder said that İTS has implemented a number of telecommunications projects in tourism and other spheres of the private sector in Azerbaijan over the past two years. The company has created an infrastructure database, video conferencing systems, etc.
Alcatel-Lucent's main equipment customers in Azerbaijan are production units Aztelekom and Baku Telephone Communications, as well as company DeltaTelecom.
Alcatel-Lucent and DeltaTelecom signed an expanded framework agreement for the modernization and expansion of the optical transport network across the country based on Zero Touch Photonics and GMPLS technologies in February 2010.
