A report reflecting the trim of 115 countries on gaining profit in the information and communication technologies has been prepared by the Davos Summit for World Economy. In the report covering 2005-2006, Azerbaijan takes the 73rd place among the total number of 115, and the third place among CIS member-states, second to Kazakhstan (60) and Russia (73). In the rating, Azerbaijan left Ukraine (76), Armenia (86), Moldova (94), and Georgia (96) behind in the rating, trend reports referring to the press-service of the Azerbaijan Telecommunication and IT Ministry.
The first place was taken by USA, the second - by Singapore, and the third Denmark. In the report of Davos Summit of 2004, Azerbaijan was conferred with no position among 104 countries.
The World Economic Forum, (WEF), also known as Davos summit, is one of the largest international non-governmental organizations with its headquarters in Geneva. The annual summit of WEF is traditionally held in the Swiss mountainous town Davos, wherefrom it has gained its current non-official name. Moreover, WEF holds annual regional and national seminars in different countries. The key aim of WEF is to improve the global situation through assistance to the international community in solving issues on economic development and social progress. Just with this aims, the Forum promotes development of partnership between business, political, intellectual, and other circles of the international community to discussing and solving corner stone (basic) problems of global development.
