BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. Kazakhstan and China's State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) discussed issues of the implementation of projects in the field of renewable energy sources, Trend reports via the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan.
According to the information, these issues were discussed during the meeting of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Chairman of the Board of SPIC Qian Zhimin.
During the meeting, along with the implementation of renewable energy projects, it was noted that SPIC, one of the largest Chinese energy companies, actively invests in green energy projects in Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev supported the company's initiative to build a wind power plant with a capacity of 1 GW in the Zhambyl region. The president was informed about the intention of the State Power Investment Corporation to launch the production of equipment for wind power plants in Kazakhstan.
In turn, Qian Zhimin said that, as part of its social responsibility, his company plans to build a thermal power plant with a capacity of up to 200 Gcal in the south of Kazakhstan.
In addition, given the extensive technical and research experience of SPIC, prospects for cooperation in the production of green hydrogen were also considered.
On May 17, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev left for a state visit to China. On the first day of his visit, which will last until May 19, a number of documents that envisage cooperation in various fields, including energy, were signed.
