Opposition Supporters Create ‘Corridor of Disgrace’ in Parliament Entrance

Georgia Materials 11 March 2008 13:14 (UTC +04:00)

Georgia, Tbilisi / corr. Trend N. Kirtskhalia/ Some 500 opposition supporters gathered before the Georgian parliament in support of members of the United Opposition who are on hunger strike.

The supporters were unable to surround the parliament completely due to lack of numbers. Currently, the oppositionists are gathered in front of parliament's main entrance and have created a so-called 'corridor of disgrace' through which they plan to permit only those MPs who will vote for a change in the formula of future parliament elections. The changes include forming parliament on an equal basis in line with the proportional and majority system.

Meanwhile, parliament has already commenced and all MPs are inside the parliament building.
