On 15 January, Ali Seyfaliyev, the Judge of the Court of Serious Crimes of Azerbaijan, has commenced announcing the sentences for a former senior official of the Central Investigation Department of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry, Haji Mammadov and his gang, Trend reports.
The court proceedings on the gang consisting of the former Chief of Central Criminal Investigation Department, Zakir Nasirov and former Chief of Property Crimes Department of the Central Criminal Investigation Department, Kamil Sedreddinov, as well as some other officers servicing in the Interior Ministry were commenced in August, 2006.
It was confirmed through the court that the members of the gang participated in kidnapping and assassination of the Director of the State Concern Azernaglsanaye, Nazim Pashayev and his driver Namik Abbasov, Section Chief of the Interior Ministry Drug Department, Azer Ismaylov, assassination of the Vice President of AFFA, Fatulla Huseynov, the Department Chief of the Azerbaijan Public Prosecutor Office, Rovshan Aliyev, as well as the kidnapping of several other victims with the aim to hold them for ransom.
At present the Judge is announcing the evidence of the accused, victims and witnesses, as well as the applications submitted to the Court. Due to the fact that the Court could not fully bring the verdict of the sentence on the case today, the Judge will continue it tomorrow at 10:00 a. m.
The judicial proceeding on the above-mentioned case is expected to be completed tomorrow.
