Inaugural Meeting of the KOICA Alumni Association (KOAZ) in Azerbaijan was held at the Landmark Hotel this week, the KOICA Baku office reported. About 130 KOICA trainees of Azerbaijani government officials and students, Korean businessmen, Korean languages professors, Korean exchange students and related personnel from Korean community in Azerbaijan attended the meeting to mark its beginning.

The inaugural meeting started with a congratulatory address from Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Korea in Azerbaijan, Seung-min Jeon and Resident Representative of KOICA office in Azerbaijan, Young-woo Kim introduced KOICA programs in Azerbaijan. Farrukh Jumayev who graduated Seoul National University in 2009 by the KOICA Scholarship Program gave a speech about purposes and future plans of KOAZ activities.

KOAZ was established to promote relationship between Korea and Azerbaijan and contribute to social and economic development of Azerbaijan by using knowledge acquired from KOICA training.

It is expected that KOAZ will perform a key role as the intermediary for the relationship between Korea and Azerbaijan and overall development of Azerbaijan.
