Iran imported about 4 million tons of corn, barley and soybeans during the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2021), an official of Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran Hassan Abbasi Maroufan said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
Maroufan emphasized that Iran imported 2.47 million tons of corn, 640,000 tons of barley and 994,000 tons of compressed soybeans over the reporting period.
The official added that there are currently 4.54 million tons of corn, barley, soybeans and compressed soybeans in Iranian ports. These products will meet the needs of producers in Iran for the next three months.
“So far, Iran has ordered 7.23 million tons of corn, 3.82 million tons of barley, 1.35 million tons of compressed soybeans and 944,000 tons of soybean seeds.
Thus, a total of 13.3 million tons of essential products have been ordered,” he said.
