Georgia Began Electricity Import from Turkey

Georgia, Tbilisi/ corr. Trend N. Kirtskhalia/ Georgia has already begun importing electricity from Turkey. About 0.74mln kilowatt/ hour of electricity are imported per day and 3.750mln - per month, commercial operator of the power engineering system reported.

The import from Turkey was carried out in January as well, which totaled to 1.4mln kilowatt/ hour. Simultaneously, the import was also carried out from Russia at 4.28mln kilowatt per day and 13.700 kilowatt per month.

Related to the other importers and exporters of Georgia, there is little export to Azerbaijan and a little import from Armenia.

Besides the import of electricity, Georgia has its own resources including hydroelectric power stations. It is worth mentioning that the biggest energy source of Georgia, Inguri hydroelectric power station, has decreased its production.

Concerning the daily production of electricity all over the country, about 19.97mln kilowatt of electricity is produced and over 24.993mln kilowatt is consumed at present.
